Free zombie shooter game

They Are Coming is an action game by OnHit.Dev. It is an endless zombie game where your goal is to kill as many zombies as possible. Each level comes with hordes, and you need to clear them using your weapons, items, and traps. The game is free to download and is playable offline.

Unlike other zombie games, They Are Coming is an action-packed, wave-based shooter. It offers a massive challenge as you are horrendously underpowered here. Sure, you can equip yourself with additional weapons, but the zombies will also get tougher to kill. Some even get up after being shot.

What is ‘They Are Coming’?

They Are Coming is a side-scrolling game that puts you in a zombie apocalypse. Here, you will play as a lone survivor, and your goal is to survive the day by killing the undead. Don't worry, though. You will be armed with some guns, a melee weapon, and a few other pieces of equipment. Moreover, you can get more items and upgrade your weapons through the in-game shop.

The main campaign will have you survive each day by clearing hordes. Each day cleared will earn you money that you can spend on upgrades. However, each day, the zombies get tougher and grosser. Like Plants VS Zombies, some zombies will be wearing helmets, making them tougher to kill. Meanwhile, the custom playground mode lets you play for as long as you like and allows you to build your defense.

Controlling your character is easy. On the left screen is a virtual joystick for movement. Still on the left side are the buttons to switch weapons. Meanwhile, touching the right side of the screen lets you shoot your equipped weapon. There are also buttons to kick zombies and reload the weapon. Virtual-wise, however, the game offers a whole heap of sloppy, pixelated gore.

Is the game good?

Overall, They Are Coming is an exciting, well-put-together zombie shooter. The game comes peppered with ideas from various game genres, keeping it fresh. Its mechanics are also easy to grasp, and its controls are simple. Moreover, the gameplay gets more and more challenging as you clear more stages. Sure, there are a few avenues that need improvement. However, as it is, it is a pretty good zombie game.
